Jessica Simpson is reflecting on motherhood while spending quality time with her own mom and daughter.
The "With You" singer penned a heartfelt note on Instagram in honor of Mother's Day on Sunday (May 11), expressing her feelings on the all-encompassing nature of a mother's love.
"Life doesn't come with instructions... it comes with Mamas! A Mother's love is something no one could ever explain. It is made up of deep devotion, compassion, protection, sacrifice, comfort, persistency, intuition, hope, faithfulness, stamina and courage."
She included a special acknowledgment for her own mother, Tina Simpson, who showed her what "profound perfect love" it is being a mom.
"It is because of my Mother that I have learned that love begins not from being perfect (although it is profound perfect love), but by the very root of being present and consistent. For everything I am today, my Mother's love showed me the way. There is no role in my life more essential than that of motherhood...."
Simpson also celebrated officially being the mother of a teenager — and loving it — after her oldest daughter Maxwell turned 13 years old earlier this month. She shared several snaps of her with her mom and daughter on a trip to Paris, from touring galleries and enjoying meals together to silly poses and loving embraces.
"My oldest, Maxwell, turned 13 in Paris on May 1st!!! Maxi Drew is a leader, a doer, a protector, a light, a determined force, a lover of life, a goofball, a treasure, a creative, a care bear, a trusted wise old soul... Maxwell is indeed a drama free intuitive feelin' empath," she said. "She is an inspiration to all who know her, follow her and confide in here. My Mom surprised us with the most beautiful celebration of Parisian life and love. 3 generations 3 connected hearts 3 spirit filled souls 3 women who smile, laugh, and shine brighter through it all ✨💛💛💛✨"
In addition to Maxwell, Simpson is a mom to daughter Birdie, 6, and son Ace, 11, all of whom she shares with estranged husband Eric Johnson.
