Meghan Markle is sharing how she and Prince Harry kept their relationship private when they first started dating.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the April 28 episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast where she revealed the way she and her now-husband hid their romance at the beginning of their relationship, per E! News. Because they weren't public at the time, "everything was in code," including the way they would refer to each other. Rather than full names, Meghan would call Harry "H" while he called her "M."

"People didn't know we were dating," she explained. "I couldn't tell anyone who I was dating, and he was keeping it [secret] so I think we were just on a letter basis."

Even after going public with their relationship and eventually getting married, the simple monikers have stuck around even years later. Not only do the couple still use their initials when referring to each other but their "close friends and family" also continue to use the nicknames, which she admits she enjoys.

"I like nicknames a lot," she said. "I love nicknames."

Harry and Meghan began dating in 2016 before getting engaged the following year. They tied the knot in 2018 at their royal wedding in England and have since welcomed two children together, 5-year-old Prince Archie and 3-year-old Princess Lilibet. Meghan recently gave followers a rare glimpse at her "little loves" and their striking resemblance to their dad.
