House Of The Dragon Crashes HBO

Our friend group used to try to meet up weekly while Game of Thrones was on the air, discussing theories and getting excited over dragons and special effects. Once the shows got ahead of George R.R. Martin's writing, the series took a bit of a nose dive during the final season, much to everyone's regret. It seems that not everyone is still sour about that:

Fans were eager to catch Sunday's premiere of the "Game of Thrones" spinoff "House of the Dragon," but not everyone was able to.

HBO Max streaming, in particular Fire TV devices, was having trouble with user complaints including the app crashing entirely or freezing once it got past the teaser trailer.

My friend Eric, watched last night with thankfully no issues and reported that the show has potential. That's good to hear considering that it cost a reported $20 million per episode, not including an expensive marketing budget.

Does this mean I have to sign up for HBO now? What are your thoughts if you were able to see the first episode?
